6th Grade Intro to FACS: This course provides individuals the opportunity to explore family and consumer sciences. The curriculum includes: kitchen basics, child development, the development of positive self-concepts and understanding personal growth and development. This class helps to promote positive relationships with peers and family members while enhancing and supporting members' skills in the home, school, and community. The course includes instruction on food and nutrition, child care, and a beginning sewing construction project.
Sewing and Fashion Design: Sewing and Fashion Design is a semester class for 7th and 8th grade students. This course is designed to help the student with his/her present and future roles, both in and outside the home. Fashion 101, is designed to teach students basic sewing skills, by creating projects that progressively get more difficult. Students will also study fashion history, fundamentals of fashion and textiles, home design basics, and clothing construction. A positive learning experience in FACS can be a contributing factor in all aspects of life. The benefits that you receive depend on the effort that you are willing to put into the class.
Foods and Nutrition: Foods and Nutrition is a semester class for 7th and 8th grade students. In Bon Appetit, students will focus on the importance of safety and sanitation, measuring ingredients, and My Plate. Students will become skilled at reading a recipe, cooking terminology, and different types of cooking techniques.
